U.S. Travel Association Hall of Leaders Inducts Donald S. Freeman, Jr.
– Donald S. Freeman, Jr., chairman of Freeman Companies, will be inducted into the U.S. Travel Hall of Leaders at the U.S. Travel Association’s winter meeting at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, this evening.
Each year, the U.S. Travel Association recognizes distinguished individuals for “sustained, noteworthy contributions that have positively impacted the travel industry, stimulated greater achievement, and raised industry-wide standards.” Mr. Freeman and U.S. Senator Harry Reid are the 2011 inductees.
“Don Freeman and Senator Reid have made invaluable contributions to our industry as champions of two critical components: attracting more international visitors to the United States, and business meetings and conferences. This is well-deserved recognition, and I look forward to joining the rest of the travel community in honoring them,” said U.S. Travel President and Chief Executive Officer Roger Dow.
Mr. Freeman, a long-time meetings industry innovator, has received many awards and honors for “continually leading his company to raise the bar for improving the meetings experience.” Mr. Freeman has served as officer or director of numerous convention industry associations, including Exhibit Designers and Producers Association, International Association for Exhibition Management and Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA). He is past chair of the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR).
